Warped Tour 2009 is Underway!

Warped Tour Logo for 2009 - the 15th Anniversary of the Warped TourWe know summer is in full swing when the Warped Tour is underway. This year Warped Tour turns 15. New for 2009 – one main stage instead of two. This allows main stage bands to play for 40 minutes instead of 30 and gives you a chance to get a cold drink and bathroom break during the 25 minutes or so between bands.

Main stage bands for some or all dates include include underOATH, We The Kings, All Time Low, Bad Religion, Chiodos, Flogging Molly, and more. We are also compiling band lists and related links for the Hurley Stages, the Ernie Ball Stage, the Smartpunk.com Stage, the Skullcandy Stage, and the Kevin Says Stage.

Check out our Warped Tour section for more info, links, and details about features and activities at this year's Warped Tour.

Click on the image to the right to visit the mag. The Deaconlight article is in the left column under the interview with Brandon Cruz [Dr. Know, Dead Kennedys, Flipper, and of course The Courtship of Eddie's Father].

There are also lots of other interviews, articles, gossip, and other generally fun punk-related stuff. Here are some other Punk Globe links to check out:

Deaconlight.com is Getting a Facelift

For the past few months, we have been reorganizing Deaconlight.com – cleaning up code, throwing out junk, editing audio, and other housecleaning. It will take awhile for us to update to every page on this website – a couple of thousand and growing – but we are striving to get things more organized so it will be easier for you to locate info about artists you know and find out about those you don't know about yet.

Origins of Deaconlight.com

This site launched in 2002 as history of radio at Wake Forest University. Deaconlight was a student-programmed radio show at WFU from the 1940s until 1981. For more about this history, please visit WakeForestRadio.com.

Deaconlight.com began evolving into a music essay site around 2004. The essay-writing slowed down considerably when Deaconlight returned to radio in 2007 at ErrorFM.com. New content that has been added to the site over the years has been pretty much patched in, thereby creating a large site with inconsistent navigation, multiple page formats, and a generally confusing experience for the user.

Duty Now for the Future

We are now stepping up our efforts to organize Deaconlight.com, which is being rebuilt from the ground up. Rather than wait until all the pages have been re-fitted, we are rolling out the updated site in phases. There will continue to be design tweaks but our main goal is to clean out all the really old pages, create more uniformity, and begin adding new content with more frequency. That content includes audio interviews, photographs, essays, and other artifacts relating to rock and roll music and radio.

Meanwhile, you can still keep up with what we are into by listening to Deaconlight at ErrorFM.com. We are live weekdays from Noon-2pm ET, 9am-Noon PT, and 5pm-7pm BT. Tune in at ErrorFM.com. You can also listen to ErrorFM.com's two channels on iTunes Radio in the Alternative Genre. Deaconlight is on Channel 1.

Thanks for dropping by.
