2012 Bamboozle Lineup - Headliners Foo Fighters, Blink-182, Bon Jovi

2012 Bamboozle Festival Logo - Skate and Surf 2012

The 2012 Bamboozle Festival comes a little later this year as it celebrates its 10th year anniversary, moving to the middle of May and returning to its roots at North Beach in Asbury Park, NJ. It's fitting New Jersey boys Bon Jovi are headlining, as well as Foo Fighters, and blink-182.

The Bamboozle, which worked its way up to the Meadowlands at East Rutherford over the past few years, actually began as a festival called Skate and Surf. Bands that helped the festival get it start include Long Island's Taking Back Sunday, New Jersey natives My Chemical Romance and (now defunct) Armor for Sleep, and even Fall Out Boy. (Last year while the Bamboozle was kicking things up at The Meadowlands, power pop king Paul Collins and The Beat Army introduced the Pop-a-Licious festival at Asbury Park, featuring lots of up-and-coming pop bands.)

I'd be very surprised if Taking Back Sunday are not present for the 10th anniversary event. TBS have had a special place at Bamboozle since the beginning:

Singer Adam Lazzara has a particular affinity for the Bamboozle festival, which features hundreds of bands on many stages in a carnival-like atmosphere...

"Any direction you turn there's something new to see." Adam told Deaconlight prior to the band's appearance at the 2011 Bamboozle Festival. "That's what makes it so cool. We've played a lot of festivals over in the UK and Europe. For bands that came up in the same scene we came up in, Bamboozle is kind of like 'our festival.' We feel like we're a big part of it. Before it was Bamboozle it was called Skate and Surf. We were on the first couple of those shows because we were a Northeast band. So it's awesome to be a part of it as it's been growing. We're really happy that they had us back." [Adam Lazarra - March 2011]
