Simple Minds to Be Featured in Documentary
The movie is titled after the 1985 Simple Minds hit song "Don't You (Forget About Me)" from the John Hughes movie The Breakfast Club. Matt Austin is directing the documentary, which focuses on Hughes' films that spoke to and for many teens in the 1980s.
"When we were asked to participate in the documentary, at first I was surprised The Breakfast Club movie had became such a cult since it was originally released 20 years ago," says Simple Minds lead vocalist Jim Kerr. "The song has become our biggest hit in America, and when we heard the rest of the original cast from the movie agreed to be interviewed for the documentary, we felt it was only fitting to participate."
The final concert of Simple Minds' World Tour will be filmed for the documentary on 28 August in their hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland at the T on the Fringe festival.
