U2 - War 25th Anniversary

2008 marks the 25th anniversary of the release of U2's album War and the US leg of the War Tour. The remastered War album was supposed to be released Tuesday, June 24, but apparently it and the first two albums, Boy and October, will be released July 22, 2008.

This week on Deaconlight at ErrorFM.com, I will be celebrating U2's music and featuring lots of songs from the early albums. I will also pull out vintage audio from the Chapel Hill show from April 23, 1983, which was the first show of the tour.

While I feel incredibly lucky to have been at that first show, I have a sense of awe about the 1983 Red Rocks show in Denver that was filmed. The first time MTV aired it in 1983, I taped it and have watched it many times. With the exception of the photos I have from the Chapel Hill show, the Red Rocks show is the closest visual I have to the show I saw. Edge was even wearing the same clothes.

Journalist and commentator Gil Asawaka will be my guest Tuesday to talk about being at the Red Rocks show in Denver, June 5, 1983. Gil was one of only about 4,000 people who attended the Red Rocks show, which almost didn't happen because of bad weather.
