Rock N Roll Endures Despite Trends

Part 13 by - May 15, 1983

Rock, album cut rock, modern rock, progressive rock — rock and roll will be alive and well on American radio for years to come. The recent excitement and influx of new material on the airwaves indicates that rock radio is at a very healthy stage right now and getting better. Rock radio is catching up with trends in rock music. The public is responding and the recording industry is picking up again.

As Atlantic Records's Diller puts it, "Music is on a continuum and it's always building and improving and falling back on itself and resurfacing, recycling and pushing forward no matter what the market is absorbing. For all of us that are really into music thank God that will always be there. It will always interest us and will always be frustrating because we will understand. It takes a lot of individual effort to get to that music. Radio can't do it by itself."
