E-mail Received 12/31/2005 from John Halverson
I was just sitting with my trusty little Apple getting a "good" address to send a note of thanks and appreciation to the folks at NPR...and through fog and chance along came a link to Deaconlight! I turned the entire upper floor gutter system of my folks house into a giant AM antenna. I received so many stations that I had to venture on my bike to Radio Shack and get a vernier compound knob just so I could tune my trusty and highly modified bedside radio. FM was line-of-sight so WFDD was the morning staple in my bedroom as I got ready for school. I've listed to their friendly and comforting voices now for something like 33 years!
Renaissance, Deaconlight, the crazy 2001 theme...and all that GREAT music that I still am influenced by. Thanks for all the effort, creativity, and earnest sharing of yourselves over the airwaves. You'd be amazed at how many acquaintances I have talked to about how radio has changed since the good'ol days...I feel like my grandfather saying something like that. I have no idea who will read my quick note, but I do feel just a smidge better letting someone out there in radio land know that their work and pleasure did make my life just a little bit richer.
Cheers,
John W. Halverson
