Since I could remember, the Beatles were always considered the best rock and roll band of all time. In fact, they got so overplayed in place of newer acts in the late 70s/early 80s I came close to getting tired of them.
But now, I hardly ever hear the Beatles. Although I confess I do not listen to the radio much, it just seems like the Beatles have almost been forgotten.
Which brings me to this record, officially called The Beatles but better known as The White Album. This record belongs in every collection, no matter what kind of music you like. It is an amazing piece of work encompassesing blistering rock ("Revolution"), quiet ballads ("Julia,"), tone-stretching guitar blams ("Helter Skelter"), and all-time classics ("While My Guitar Gently Weeps"). All of this packaged under one roof that has weathered many rock and roll storms but still stands.
If you have this and haven't listened to it in awhile, go pull if off the shelf and slap it on this Saturday night. You will be glad you did.
