Classic & Current Contemporary Non-Schlock-Rock Metropolitan MusicA Wizard / A True Star (1973) - Todd RundgrenThis was a life-changing record for me. I remember I was riding in a car with some friends on February 24, 1974. This guy Mark had the 8-track playing. He was going on about how much this record rocks and that it was nothing like Something/Anything. Then he turned up the guitar solo on "You Need Your Head" really loud. I loved it. Todd was on "In Concert" that night. He came out wrapped up in aluminum foil. When he unwrapped himself, he was wearing this very tight satin body suit and had multi-colored hair. He first sang with a big tape machine behind him, then brought out Utopia. The following Monday I walked I-don't-know-how-many-miles to Reznick's Records at Thruway Shopping Center and bought it.
