Classic & Current Contemporary Non-Schlock-Rock Metropolitan MusicBlood on the Tracks (Jan. 17, 1975) - Bob DylanJuly 29, 2005 -- (DD Thornton, Deaconlight) -- Although I had always liked Bob Dylan since I could remember, it wasn't until this record came out, combined with a boyfriend who was a big Bob Dylan fan, that I became Dylan-obsessed. Well, maybe boyfriend isn't the right word. Jack and I had met when we were 13. Somehow around the time we turned 16, things got more serious. More so for me than him. It was one of those on-and-off things for years. But Jack was a big Dylan freak. Even had the curly hair, although he looked more like Jack White in the face. I think this was the first Bob Dylan record I even bought. I always thought of Blood on the Tracks as "our record" since we listened to it so much together. And what a great record it is. I wonder if people ever get this record out and listen to it anymore? Does anyone play it on the radio? It really is one of the records that is beyond essential. "Tangled Up in Blue" was played a lot on WSGH (which eventually became WKZL). So was "Idiot Wind" - what a song! Every cut from the acoustic pieces to the rambling up-tempo songs are amazing and they fit perfectly together on this record. I used to sit in front of the fireplace watching the flames thinking about Jack when during our "off" times. Blood on the Tracks is such a "mood record" for listening to when you want to get all introspective. Next time you are by yourself and it's raining, pull this one off the shelf, put it on, sit down, and stare out the window for awhile. You'll see what I mean if you don't know already.
