Classic & Current Contemporary Non-Schlock-Rock Metropolitan MusicBlank Generation (1977) - Richard Hell & the VoidoidsBlank Generation by Richard Hell and the Voidoids was one of the first punk records I ever played on the radio. The title cut is a great song - a classic. I also remember just liking to say the band's name on the air. Mr. Hell also had a small part in the Madonna hit movie Desperately Seeking Susan and a bigger part in its kinda-sorta precursor, Smithereens. (Both films were directed by Susan Seidelman, who was also a co-writer of Smithereens.) I have another record by Richard Hell and the Voidoids called Destiny Street that came out on Red Star records in 1982. The track "The Kid with the Replaceable Head" from that record can be heard in the background in a one Hell's Smithereens scenes, as can "Another World" from Blank Generation. There's a picture of the cover of Destiny Street further down this page.
