The Shirts (1978) - The Shirts

The Shirts - The Shirts album cover« The Shirts

The Shirts were a Brooklyn band who were around during the late 70s New York scene. I wouldn't necessarily classify them as new wave, although they did play CBGBs during the time punk and new wave was ramping up at the NYC club.

My favorite thing about this record is the song "Teenage Crutch," written by band members Robert Racioppo and Ronald Ardito. It's a rocking song with lyrics I definitely related to such as:

People always asking me
When you gonna take life seriously
You cannot forever be like a teenager.

...and...

From dust I come, to dust I go
In between, I rock and roll.

Yeah. That's me.
