I first heard this record when my friend Steve Fox played it for me in 1981. I think he got when he was in Germany. I liked it right away even though I didn't know German at the time. Just the sonic qualities of the German language were cool.
Since then, I have learned some German. In the 80s, I had a boyfriend from Berlin named Leif who wrote down translations of the songs. I liked them even better once I understood what they meant.
