Classic & Current Contemporary Non-Schlock-Rock Metropolitan MusicSongs the Lord Taught Us (May 1980) - The CrampsSongs the Lord Taught Us kicks up a notch from The Cramps' debut EP, Gravest Hits. Also produced by Big Star's Alex Chilton, this record is a sonic masterpiece of rhythmic distortion. The songs are a mix of original tracks by Lux Interior and Ivy Rorschach, cover songs, and hybrids where The Cramps mix in obscure rockabilly riffs and early blues/jazz ditties such as "Stick Out Your Can, Here Comes the Garbageman." I'm not sure why, but both of my vinyl copies of this album have a different track listing from that shown on the cover. "Drug Train" is shown as the first song, but it's not on the actual vinyl. I do have "Drug Train" on a 7-inch single that probably came with one of the albums. This album sounds best when played on vinyl turned up real loud.
