The Pretenders - Pretenders

This is a most important record that should be in the collection of every rock aficionado who appreciates rock history. Chrissie Hynde burst through the poppy new wave bubble with a ball-breaking rock and roll record. Of course, we know she mellowed out after a few albums, but after making a record like this (and 1984's Learning to Crawl), Chrissie has earned the license to play whatever she wants and still be respected for it.

I have so many stories around this record. When I get a chance, I will post them. Whether or not they are interesting, who knows? But I will say this was one of those life-changing records when it came out.
