Classic & Current Contemporary Non-Schlock-Rock Metropolitan MusicStands for deciBels (1981) - The dB'sI love this band in all its incarnations. And not just because they are from Winston-Salem. The dBs offered a nice mix modern pop that was not flash-in-the-pan trendy. Even today I can hear their influence on Ryan Adams' album Rock and Roll (2004). There are a few songs on this record I would love to hear covered by some 21C bands. For instance, I'm sure The Academy Is... would do a great version of "Black and White." William Beckett's voice is perfect for that song. It would be interesting to see what All Time Low could do with "Bad Reputation." Have you heard the album that Chris Stamey and Peter Holsapple put out in 2009 called Here and Now? I've been listening to it a lot lately. The chemistry in their music, which goes all the way back to Stands for deciBels, is such a pretty blend of harmony and catchy lyrics. I feel very lucky to have followed these talented songwriters from early in their careers. -- 12 November 2010 (DD) Stands for deciBels Original Album Tracks
