Thelonious Monster - Stormy Weather with Next Saturday Afternoon Thelonious Monster's compilation of Stormy Weather and Next Saturday Night is a great reacord that gets four quarter notes from DD

Released 1989

My German Shepherd Artemis inspired me to play this fun CD today. I don't know what has gotten into Artemis lately. Maybe she was drinking stagnant water from the fish pond when the pump was broken. Maybe it's the cheap dog food we've been feeding her lately.

For some reason, Artemis has taken to having bathroom stops in not so obvious areas of the house. Hubby found another "deposit" this morning. And there we were faced in the same position as Bob Forrest when he frantically sings "Zelda":

Well the dog keeps shittin' in the house
Well the dog keeps shittin' in the house
Well the dog keeps shittin' in the house
Well the dog keeps shittin' in the house
And I can't take no more.
No more patience - no more paper towels...

Yes, we were out of paper towels this morning.

So I go looking for this record on Amazon so I can post it here. Can't find it. How come? This is such a clever record. Some very quotable songs are on here. In addition to "Zelda," there's one of my all-time faves, the laid-back but groovin' tune "Sammy Hagar Weekend":

Well it's a Sammy Hagar weekend
It's a Sammy Hagar state of mind
It's a Sammy Hagar weekend
It's a Sammy Hagar way of life.
We're gonna drink some beer
Smoke some pot
Snort some coke
And then drive...
Drive over 55, yeah.
Cuz it's a Sammy Hagar weekend.
Yeah, it's a big man's world.

Funny stuff! Witty but not stupid. I wish I could play it for you now...

We got a Metallica t-shirts
Got a little tiny baby mustache
Got a jacked-up Camaro
We're sittin' in the parking lot at Anaheim Stadium.
Drinkin' beer
Smokin' pot
Snortin' coke
And then we'll drive...
Drive over 55, yeah.
Cuz it's a Sammy Hagar weekend.
And it's a big man's world.

C'mon everyone sing along!

We're just a-cruzin' and boozin'...

There are a couple of Thelonious Monster CDs on Amazon. One released in 2004 is called California Clam Chowder. I listened to the clips on Amazon and they were pretty amusing. Each song is formed around a specific artist (e.g. The Gun Club Song, The Joy Division Song, The Germs Song, The Big Star Song, even a Thelonious Monster song). If you have heard this and can let me know if it is worth buying, please contact me.

Oh, I also see where there is a 2001 CD called "You Come & Go Like a Pop Song" by Thelonious Monster singer Bob Forrest and Bicycle Thief.

It's on Artemis Records.

Speaking of which, I better go check the back of the house just in case Artemis has done her thing again. Hubby just walked in from the store and showed me the eight-pack of paper towels he bought...
