Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam

Released 2006

While it is true that I have not heard this entire record yet, I still feel it is worth my time to promote it. Why?

Well, I could say because I have heard "World Wide Suicide" over and over and find it to be UnReal!!. And that in itself is a good reason.

Perhaps it is my guilt or some feeling of responsibility that I have not posted more about Pearl Jam on Deaconlight before now. This is not because Pearl Jam is way down my list. It has more to do with Deaconlight being driven by events that push me in one direction or another and with the limited time I have I can only do so much.

Deaconlight the Web site started out with a different purpose - to unite all the student radio announcers who had championed alternative music - or at least student-programmed music - going all the way back to the 1940s. Then I started posting a few of my radio playlists. I still haven't finished but most of what I have so far is from the late 1970s/early 1980s. Pearl Jam weren't around back then so I didn't focus on writing essay for their records, even though Pearl Jam are one of my favorite bands.

I will save the historical evolution of my love of this band for the specific essays I will eventually write about each record. With the exception of Yield and Riot Act I have bought every Pearl Jam record when it was newly released. And I probably have a life story related to most if not all of them.

So obviously, I am saying absolutely nothing of use here other than to say I really love this band and the fact that I haven't given Pearl Jam more space on Deaconlight has nothing to do with how important this band has been to me since the release of their first album Ten.

I can't wait to hear this new one.
